Excursions

Umbria is Italy’s geographic and cultural heartland. Often referred to by Italians as ‘the green heart of Italy’, it was also the cradle of the Renaissance. Perugia, the region’s stunning medieval capital, and Assisi, home of St Francis, are both within easy reach of Abbadia Celestina, as are a host of other spectacular hilltop towns for which the region is justly famous. Florence and Sienna beckon from neighbouring Tuscany, and Rome is just two hours away by road or rail. The cultural richness of the region is unrivalled.

For those who prefer to surrender themselves to the restorative qualities of nature, open countryside and stunning landscapes are to be found in abundance.
With the area boasting more than half a dozen nature reserves, including the breathtaking Sibillini Mountain National Park, there is no shortage of opportunities to leave the crowds behind.

The more energetic can take advantage of a range of activities available in the area, from horse-riding to white-water rafting, truffle hunts and wild boar safaris. Just an hour and a half drive away, the Caelestina, a Pershing 56 power yacht complete with professional skipper, is ready for breathtaking boat trips on the Adriatic and beyond.
